Wednesday Post: Explore the land of Land Rover, a flavorful journey to Lucknow's cuisine, explore Baltic beauty of Latvia and watch unveil the Travel Influencer Secrets
Just 28 KMS from Darjeeling in West Bengal lies the Manebhanjan village, earning a name as the Land of Land Rovers.
As the name suggests, this village till now uses Land Rovers for their regular commute, which were introduced by the British during the colonial era to navigate the steep and rugged terrains of this region.
Image 300 Land Rovers gliding across the neighbourhood in a rustic Indian setting - that’s Manebhanjan in olden days. Now, the vehicle, only a handful of 35 of them, are mostly functional here as a taxi.
Manebhanjan takes pride in being the home to some of the world’s oldest functional Land Rovers. Dwellers here are still not sure of the time of origin of these rovers, but words have it that to conquer the unforgiving mountain, it was during the 1960s that Land Rover found its way here in this Indo-Nepal sandwiched village.
If you visit Manebhanjan, it is not only the Land Rovers stealing your hearts, it’s also the food, the location, and the unexpected sunsets.
