The Wednesday Post: feeling lucky, DDLJ, foxes, road trips and more
Secret, hidden, unexplored, offbeat, unheard of – there’s a cyclic nature to the list of adjectives travel writers use to describe destinations. It’s what helps them grab eyeballs. For some travellers, the masala of life is in the joy of discovering places only a handful (or thereabouts) have been to. Where the roads are broken, where hikes have no set trail, where sourcing snacks after 630pm is an issue – that’s where the explorer thrives most.
One such place that fits this description is Deorhi, in the upper reaches of Sainj Valley. Swerve right before the Aut Tunnel and enter the realm of the Great Indian National Park. Take one of the few buses that ply to Deorhi or drive up through the road-less route leading up to the village and you’ll find out what’s so great about this national park.

Destination of the week: Switzerland
Aditya Chopra is good at many things, one of which is directing movies that transcend decades, trends and life cycles with their popularity. DDLJ, for one. The movie’s iconic status is not going to dissolve anytime soon, nor is its impact on tourism in Switzerland (Chopra Lake is a real place in the country!). Going on a DDLJ trail in the country is a pleasantly surprising way of exploring the country. If you’re a Shah Rukh fan, a Bolly-stan or a sucker for having fun – this guide to visiting all DDLJ locations in Switzerland is for you. Go figure!
