There's a Mysterious Village in India Where Birds Are 'Suicidal'
This Wednesday Post: Know about 'The Bermuda Triangle for Birds', explore the best of Arunachal Pradesh, find out a gorgeous island in France, and add a UNESCO Heritage town to your travel bucketlist.
Hey there!
You must be wondering what am I talking about. How can birds be suicidal? But trust me, even I got goosebumps when I came to know about Jatinga - a quaint village in Assam, located at a distance of about 320 km from Guwahati.
In the months from September to November, as the clock strikes 6 PM and the sun begins its descent, an eerie hush falls over the land. Here, in this tranquil village, both local and migratory birds embark on a peculiar journey, one that defies explanation and sends shivers down the spines of those who bear witness.
These winged creatures take flight, only to descend into a realm of darkness in a ritual so bizarre and macabre that it has left even the most seasoned scientists bewildered.
EP Gee, a renowned naturalist, first unveiled this enigma to the world in the late 1960s, forever etching Jatinga onto the map of inexplicable mysteries. Ornithologists have aptly dubbed this place as 'The Bermuda Triangle for Birds.'
