Live life king size at these palaces
The Wednesday Post: island holidays, quokkas, rustic living and more
Live life king size. There’s no shortage of individuals who exemplify this profound statement – Shane Warne, Vijay Mallya, Kanye West, Floyd Mayweather, among a sea of others. While by no means is it sufficient for anyone not in the 1% league to enjoy life at such levels, it doesn’t hurt to splurge on simple luxuries once in a while. So while you speak English, eat French, dress Italian, spend Arab, drive German and party Caribbean, head out to one of India’s many palace hotels and treat yourself to lavishness beyond limits.
Brijrama Palace in Varanasi, Ahilya Fort in Maheshwar, the Lalit Grand Palace in Srinagar – the list is endless. All you have to do is put a finger on the map and a palace will present itself. Don’t bother with this last bit and read our pick of India’s finest palaces you can stay in.

Destination of the week: Hassan
If your Mondays start feeling like Thursdays and the Fridays feel like Mondays, it’s time for a break. If you live in Bangalore, the easiest break is to hop into your car and drive west for 3 hours, right up to Hassan. Dislodge yourself of all your worries at Hoysala Village Eco Resort and enjoy life’s simple joys. Go for a walk, take a dip in the pool, and eat food you don’t have time to cook otherwise. It’s all up to you really. If you don’t like yoga and don’t know how to swim, head here for the property’s rustic charm and aesthetic architecture. It’s quite nice.
