Destination of the Week: Banavasi, Karnataka 🛕
As I scoured the options for weekend getaways from bustling Bengaluru, I stumbled upon a hidden gem. Nestled in the tranquil embrace of the Western Ghats in Northern Karnataka, there lies a sleepy hill town that seems to have defied the relentless march of time while the world around it raced forward.
This is none other than Banavasi, a place that whispers tales of a glorious past.
Banavasi wears the crown of being Karnataka's first capital, once ruled by the illustrious Kadamba Dynasty in the 4th century AD. Tucked away deep within the rainforests of the Western Ghats, it rests gracefully on the banks of the Varadha River.
Banavasi is a living testament to antiquity, adorned with ancient temples and graced by the melodious symphony of cascading waterfalls and lush green fields that come alive during the monsoon season. It's a place where history meets the pristine beauty of nature, creating a truly enchanting experience.
