Ever Seen a Forest In India Glowing All Neon In Monsoon?
Wednesday Post: Plan a monsoon trek to India's bioluminescent forest, explore tapestry of New Zealand's North & South Islands, get hungry with Thai cuisine & visit one of world's happiest countries
Olá Fellow Travelers!
Enough of being awestruck with the bioluminescent beaches of Goa, where there is way too much crowd to enjoy the neon glow anymore. What I suggest is to head towards the Western Ghats during this ongoing monsoon season and take a detour to Maharastra's Bhimashankar Wildlife Reserve.
What's new in there? A glowing, hidden, bioluminescent forest. Yes, you have read it right. Trek down inside the forest, and as night falls, this dense forest transforms into a surreal, bioluminescent wonderland where the forest floor and even the decaying tree trunks light up with a mystical blue-green shimmer.
It also feels like a ‘Maleficent’ set up in the middle of the forest. Locals and travelers who have experienced this spectacle call it ‘the forest’s secret festival,’ a hidden show that few are privileged to see.
Did you know artists Friedrich van Schoor and Tarek Mawad infused a forest in Germany with bioluminescence to create a spectacular short film? They could have done it here in Bhimashankar Wildlife Reserve anyway!
